I can still clearly recall the first time I walked through the double doors that led to the spacious choir room. I remember walking in and admiring the many trophies and state championships that sat on the various cabinets along the outskirts of the room. For me, the decision to continue choir was a tough one. I mean afterall, in order to be academically competitive in this day in age, you need to load as many AP courses as possible into your schedule right? It became abundantly clear that I wasn’t the only one that contained this ideology as only 12 students were enrolled in the freshman choir. This limited number only served to intensify my fear that I would regret this decision later in my high school career. It took a while for my hesitancy to turn to eagerness.

Each year at my school, the male singers in chamber choir went to the state solo and ensemble competition and every year since 2008 they had returned with the state championship. Winning this championship had turned into a tradition of excellence at my school. I was hungrier than ever to make chamber choir and become apart of this great tradition.
