As much as the miscarriages of justice had occurred in the past, there had been much improvements nowadays to ensure that the confessions obtained are fully authentic and legitimate, by introducing the system of video-taping the interviews and interrogations. Nevertheless, problems might occur in terms of technicality because the video recorder might be unavailable or malfunction sometimes . For the past mistakes not to be repeated again, there must be some sort of safeguards for the authority to act consistent with the requirements of the law. Hence, the PACE Act and codes of practices was a good step in giving the authority guidelines on how to retrieve the evidence lawfully for the evidence to be admissible and reliable. As for the EWI, there had been a development in the way which the identification parades can be done. The introduction of Video Identification Parade Electronic Recording (VIPER) had made it easier for the witness to do the identification. Witnesses do not have to show up at the police station but instead it can be done from home. This method had been proven to be easier as the witness does not have to face the suspect. However, despite the difficulties, there are still some major improvements in each area of the evidence
