Challenges Of Moving School

Improved Essays
Challenges offer a person the grit and fight that is needed to get through life. I am no stranger to challenges throughout my life I have faced countless different challenges that force me to adapt and grow as a person. The biggest challenge that I faced was attending seven schools in thirteen years.
From a young age I had move all around the country . At the tender age of three I had to move from Arizona to North Carolina. There I spent two years (one of them in Kindergarten) but managed to make friends that I still have to this day. After those two years I was again ripped away from the place I called home. I remember being so upset because I had to leave a place which I fell in love with. This second school was in Connecticut. Here I spent another two years before I had to move yet again. This time I got to move back to North Carolina. North Carolina welcomed me back like an old friend. Here I would spend the next eight years… but I still moved schools often due to redistricting and moving from elementary school up to high school. My sophomore year I went from panther Creek to Apex Friendship. Moving schools in High School is extremely tough because everyone already has their clicks and you have to try to get into a group. I was lucky that I ran cross-country because it allowed me to gain a large group of extremely close friends.

I learned how I learn best and what types of people to hang out with. I believe that constantly moving has given me a competitive edge when meeting new people or being put into new circumstances due to having to change my life every few year. I wouldn't call moving a lot the best thing ever though because it has prevented me from creating deeper relationships with people due to only being with them for a year or two. Overall my past has made me who I am today and for that I look back upon these challenges with a smile knowing that I conquered them

A universal theme for me moving from Texas to California is overcoming. I was 8 years old when my family moved, and had to overcome knowing no one, a new school, and being out of my comfort zone. At this age you tend to start making good friends, all hang out in groups, and be less adventurous. My parents kept saying, “Find people who like the same things as you, and everything else will be easy”. The next week I did just that.…

Moving schools away from all of my friends should’ve been an appalling experience, surprisingly, it was a blessing in disguise. I went to Agnes Baptist Elementary from kindergarten to 5th grade and I had friends that I've known since I was 3. I loved it there and knew the school like the back of my hand. Everything was superior, like most good things, though there were times where they weren’t, I was harassed by a bully almost everyday, my grades were getting inadequate, and my mom didn’t want me to be a sad, disconsolate 7th grader at a new junior high. In the result, I moved and I went to Savage Middle School, a school that had 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.…

In 2006, I began my journey at The Valley School as a first grade student. Moving over from my previous school, which I had attended from the time I was three until I was six years old, was fairly smooth. I had friends who made the switch with me and, being the social butterfly I was, making new friends was a breeze. In the first few years as a student, I saw Valley move into three buildings.…
