Lennie is around thirty-one years old, with a mental disability that leaves him with a load of struggles that a majority of people never find themselves dealing with in Of Mice and Men. But he is not alone, he walks his journey with a partner at his side and a smile across his face. While the world around him was falling down, he held his ground. Most of this is a result of his mental disability. He never truly understands the evils of the world because he cannot quite see them. He looked at the world unlike anyone else, with a smile on his face until the very last seconds. And that is what matters in life the most, because it is not about money, or success, or winning. It’s about the simple thing that everyone takes for granted and that is being happy. Not everyone is fortunate to feel happy all the time, unlike Lennie who finds joy in petting a dead mouse. Maybe it is okay to forget about the problems in my life once in awhile and just focus on the positives without a worry in the world. Lennie also taught me about how important it is to have friends that will run with me to the finish. George always had his back, and most people actually do not have friends like this.
