Throughout It Happened One Night , there was quite a few obstacles and barriers that prevented Peter and Ellie to get together until the end of the film. The number one barrier between them was that Ellie was married to King Westley. An obstacle that they had to overcome was the muscommmunion that they had. Another obstacle was that they had to evade the police and people that wanted to turn in Ellie. Peter and Ellie where both so oblivious that they did not notice one was falling for the other, they just kept on fighting already acting like an old married couple. The only reason that Ellie wants to go to New York is to be with Mr. Westley because her father disapproves of him. Her father wanted to get their marriage annulled and Ellie could not stand for that. On her train ride to New York she meets a man called Peter whom helps her out in exchange for a story since he is a reporter. At first, well throughout the whole train ride, hitch hicking, and 'motel ' staying they were constantly bickering. Even …show more content…
First it was Peter, but he was able to get a story if he helped Ellie get to Mr. Westley. Then there was this one guy in particular when they were taking the train. Ellie sat next to that guy because it was either sitting next to him or Peter. The guy she sat next to was a big nuisance and would not stop flirting with her. Peter came in to the rescue though. Later the same guy discovered in the newspaper that there was an award for Ellie and he decided to talk to Peter about splitting the money because he thought it was only fair. Peter made up a crazy story about how she was currently kidnapped . The guy got scared and backed off. The other people where the police that was looking for Ellie in the cottage and Peter and Ellie had a huge fake fight so that they could get rid of the police. The other people where the owners of the last place that they stayed
