Chair Yoga Observation

During the summer I attended the chair yoga class outside of KBCC. It was at 837 Union Street in Brooklyn. I was surprised at the number of people in the class. There was a wide variety of people who did chair yoga and the teachers at Park Slope Yoga sessions were very kind in letting me sit in on one of their classes. I joined in and did the squats. She then advanced into the chair squats modification (for those who needed it), which lasted for about 10 to 15 seconds. Those who could not stand were told to sit and step out to the left with the left leg and then alternate the right leg. We then switched to the chair triangle, which was alternated 3 times on each side. Those who were standing did the chair Tree Pose, which we had to hold for 20 seconds, and then alternated to the next leg doing 20 seconds on that side.
After the chair Tree Pose, we did the chair lunge alternating 2 times on both sides and then went to the reverse chair lunge, which was also switched 2 times on each leg. Then we went into downward facing dog and held it for about 30 seconds. This was followed by the cat pose for 30 seconds. We finished off the class with a calm relaxing sun salutation followed by a 5 min relax session. Those who could not stand kept doing leg and arm elevations with the other instructor.
Overall the class was very fun and relaxing for a change no real writing just hand on experience with your own body and nothing else. The chair yoga classes made me more aware of how much I should value my body and keep it healthy with a little daily workout even if it is only for 5 minutes it can help me stay focused throughout the rest of the
