Introduction to the Company
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is considered as the most legendary institution in the Asia Pacific region completing 176 years of excellent service to the Sri Lankan business community on the 25th of March 2015. This respective organization falling under the non-profit service sector is pledged to provide a valuable service to businesses both local and international.

This organization is known as the prime mover and trendsetter among all Chambers in Asia Pacific region.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was the first to be incarnated by the Senate and the House of Representatives. Introducing the services provided by this institution are issuing the Certificate of Origin since 1925, conducting Commodity auctions such as tea, rubber, spices and allied products since 1894, Gem auctions since 1980. On the other hand the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce do provide services such as Measurers/ Surveyors/Assessors, Arbitration/Conciliation and mediation services. (Who we are, 2015)
When it comes to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the Commercial Documents Registration Department (CDRD) plays a major role. This is the long standing department of the Chamber. The Commercial Document s Registration Department (CDRD) commenced operations in 1925, celebrates its 89th year. The main operations of this department is certifying Certificate of Origin and other document such as Health Certificate, Visa letters, Sales Agreement, Survey reports, Invoices etc.

Thereafter one of the operator’s will have to carry the export document and walk to the Assistant Secretary General (department head) or the Manager to obtain the signature who are seated in one the corner of the department. Moving from one place to another just to get the documents signed is time consuming since these authorized signatories have other work to attend as well. Therefore it is good to change the layout of the department by either locating the Manager close to the data entry operator so that the passing of export documents to obtain the signature is easy and
