A hero can be the good guy in a movie, the guy who gave the homeless a plate of food, or the guy who stood up for hundreds of people. The world is surrounded by millions of brave people. Anybody can be a hero, all it takes is a courageous individual. It takes someone who is willing to do everything in their ability to take a heroic action. Beowulf and Cesar Chavez are both examples of heroes. They both made a huge effort to defend for what they thought was right and fought for hundreds of people. Along their way to success, they found themselves through many barriers. Despite their tough battles, they both overcame each battle with an ending that they both desired. Although Beowulf and Chavez have many similar characteristics, they also have differences.
Cesar Chavez was a civil rights activist who fought for farmer rights. Farmers were not being paid appropriately and were working in horrible work conditions. According to the UFW website, Chavez wanted his government to allow all farmers to “organize into a union and allow collective bargaining agreements.” Chavez and the United Farm Workers, farmers that were

He had the strength of “thirty men in just one of his arms” (The Anglo-Saxon Hero). Like most warriors, he wanted to be remembered before his death. He fought anybody or anything and was “fearless and supremely confident in his own abilities” (Leadership Educators). When Beowulf heard about Grendel attacking the Danes, he offered to go to Denmark and fight Grendel. During the fight, Beowulf ripped Grendel’s arm off with his bare hands and killed him. When Grendel’s mother found out he was dead, she went out to get revenge on Beowulf. During their fight, Beowulf killed Grendel’s mother with his sword. Beowulf had his last fight with the dragon, who was also defeated, and was once again a hero to the Danes. Although he died during his fight with the dragon, he was remembered as a hero to many
