In 1962 he founded the NFWA (National Farm Workers Association) which became the UFW (United Farm Workers). With pickets and worker walk outs, Cesar with others ended up bringing California grape farmers to their knees. With more and more boycotts, and 340+ mile marches, they successfully got other citizens from both Hispanic and White communities to join their cause. With more and more pressure the farmers were forced to cede to the demands of the UFW, more so out of self-perseverance and were not happy with the outcome. Cesar Chavez died April 23, 1993 in Arizona, not far from where he was born. He was found by his colleagues the following morning with a smile on his face; Cesar passed peacefully in the
