The issue that lead to the protest was when Chavez was denied the ability to form a farmworker’s union in 1962.
The people who were involved were Cesar Chavez, Filipino labor groups, and Latino farmers.
During the Chavez farm working event there were boycotts, strikes, and marches to raise awareness for worker’s rights.
Alongside creating marches and strikes, Cesar Chavez also fasted three times during his campaign in 1968, 1972, and 1988.
The use of the boycott was to “pressure the growers to realize the United farm workers” (history.com staff).
