Cervical disc protrusion, is a result of the cervical disc displacement or bulging and can be due to a trauma related to a sport, work, motor vehicle accident or aging and can lead to some form of disability and morbidity. This condition can be associated to cervical radiculopathy, disc herniation, osteophytes and spondylolisthesis (Bartels, 2016).
In the United Stated the motor vehicle accidents are the main cause of spine and spinal cord injuries (Stein et al., 2011). The incidence of sport related injuries are lower comparing to the other causes, but there is a high incidence of serious spinal injuries in sports such as American Football, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey and Track and Field. (Swartz et al., 2009).

Because of the relationship of the cervical spine with the thoracic and lumbar spine, flexibility exercises can be performed in isolation or combined with the rest of the spine (Houglum, 2017). The gain of range of motion (ROM) and mobility should be part of the short-term goal of the rehabilitation program.
Strengthening exercise will target muscle strength and endurance in the cervical spine and the whole spinal region with the prescription of isometric exercises initially, then isotonic exercises, keeping in mind the patient keeps a good cervical alignment and good posture throughout the exercises. Other important factors to consider as part of cervical spine rehabilitation is inclusion of proprioception and balance exercises to improve stability, correct posture and body mechanics (Houglum, 2017). It should be part of a long-term goal to regain functional capacity.
Depending on the severity of the symptoms and if patient satisfies clinical diagnosis criteria, a surgical intervention may be recommended, such as Foraminotomy (Weisz, G. M., Houang, M. & Bogduk, N.,
