We generally describe a person by the kind of behavior that they have with other people. They may be polite, some may be downright obnoxious, and some are aggressive or even competitive. In society we notice that every person we come across has their own individual personality. And it logically follows that a certain type of personality would be more appropriate for a particular task or job. Attempts have been made by companies to reconcile these differences and find accurate matches for the jobs that are on offer.

From ancient times, personalities have intrigued scholars and attempts have been made understand the working and underlying structure of human behavior and personality. As time passed and access to more advanced means increased, the number of theories related to human personality have increased. From these theories, various assessment tools and instruments were developed to measure and tabulate the personality traits. These tools could be in the form of psychometrics and personality tests. Also, as an offshoot of these theories and assessment tools, efforts were made to match personalities with appropriate occupations.
