As of 2015, the population of the 91101 zip code in Pasadena, California is 20,936; 46% male and 54% females (ACS Demographic and housing estimates, 2015). The community is comprised of 58% White, 27% Hispanic/Latino, 23% Asian, and 8% Black/ African American (ACS Demographic and housing estimates, 2015). Of this population, 13% is under the age of 18; while 72% is between the ages of 18 and 65 (ACS Demographic and housing estimates, 2015). The Pasadena population is 46% two or more person family households, with 41% of those households having children under the age of 18 (Households and families, 2010). The goal is that by reaching family members of a household, they can then share the information learned with their households. The education presentation setting is at the Pasadena Central Public Library, Studio On The 4th space, which is an open area on the forth floor with tables and chairs where people frequently visit and remain during their stay at the library. The space has adequate lighting, welcoming space visible to those outside of the area, with two large presentation screens. The location, Central Pasadena Library itself, has a strong reputation in the community for hosting educational programs. …show more content…
The benefit of the program for the community is greater than the risk associated with this project. Stakeholders include participants, library staff, librarians, ASU faculty, and ASU collegiate peers. Communication with library staff stakeholders occurred at time prior to and after the event, while communication with participants occurred only at time of program. Further communication with stakeholders includes Final Report to Arizona State University Faculty and peers in week 5 and 6 of NUR 464 Capstone
