Today, I decided to take a walk through to Crotona Park, which is located in the South Bronx. New York City obtained the property from Andrew Bathgates as part of the partnership of the Bronx Park department in 1888. It was known as “Bathgate Woods.” The park was already popular for its scenic view, which includes its trees and its pond. There was a debate when it came to naming Crotona Park.…
On a peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio located along Lake Erie, lies America’s second-oldest amusement park, Cedar Point. People throughout the entire world know about it. With a history dating back to the 1800s, the number-one rated amusement park on the planet has seen its share of rides, rollercoasters, and trends. In the nineteenth century, Cedar Point housed a lighthouse, as well as a fishermen port, and was mainly used for fishing and hunting. However, this all changed in 1867 when a local newspaper called for someone to utilize the beach on the peninsula.…
Since the terrain was mainly swamps and bluffs with a few rocky outcroppings throughout it was undesirable for private development they thought only squatters lived there. A good portion of it was built on the land of Seneca village, a principle black settlement in New York. It had three churches, two schools, and three cemeteries with the corpses never moved after the ejection of the residents. Central Park started life as a playground for the rich due to the fact that it was located too far uptown which made the walk too long for the working class. Today it is a place for all with numerous historical and artistic landmarks…

The documentary ‘Central Park Five’ was told in such a captivating, vivid way, which really allows the viewer to feel the emotional realism and angst in the story. It was so devastating to watch these young men go through this time distressing time of injustice. In the 1980’s there were many issues present within society surrounding race and economic status, which brought a tremendous amount of violent crime. In the documentary you were given an insiders view of the life each of these boys lived, and therefore helped you understand what influenced their decisions and motives. I tried to put myself in their shoes, thinking how hard it was for them to be accused of something they did not do, all in their tender adolescent age.…

I remember one night after a boy scout meeting at my house me and the other guys decided to have a snow ball fight…

In the documentary movie, The Central Park Five, when the media is reporting the park jogger case with two completely different tones, it failed to comply a basic moral principle: to be objective on any cases. Extreme descriptions such as “wilding” and “wolf pack” exaggerate the negative image of these teenagers, even though who are actually innocent in this case. The media is trying to plant prejudices in the public’s mind, to make decisions for them to treat the five teenager suspects as pure evil and abominable culprits. The media also uses positive words to emphasize that the victim is so fragile, soft, innocent and unfortunate, but these words are more useful to reflect the suspects’ vicious characterization. What the media does here is obviously not fair and objective because the news reports directly ignite the fuse of the public’s fury.…
