Central Connecticut Women's Basketball Team Case Study

After coming off a six game winning streak the Central Connecticut women's basketball team have went on to lose two straight games. Their luck changed as they went on to win a thriller against Bryant University by a score of 53-52 in the final 10 seconds.
The Blue Devils started off the game to a weak start as Bryant University began the first quarter with a 10-3 run. But the Blue Devils quickly responded with a 11-6 run of their own. BU own Alex Klein had six points for the first quarter, meanwhile CCSU Andi Lydon had five points of her own, including a three-pointer. The Blue Devils went into the second quarter trialing 16-14.

Heading into the half the Blue Devils trailed 30-21.
The Blue Devils flipped the switch to start the half going on a 15-2 run to take a 36-32 lead, their first lead of the game. Lydon led the quarter with 11 points as the Blue Devils had their highest scoring quarter of the game with 24 compared to the Bulldogs who only scored 11. To end the quarter the Blue Devils led 45-41.
The fourth quarter was quiet for the first half. Already about five minutes deep into the quarter Central scored the first points from a layup by Giocelis Reynoso to extend the lead 47-41. BU responded with two points and senior Aleah Epps scored a three-pointer with 4:41 remaining in the quarter.
The final two minutes of the game became a close one as the Bull Dogs trailed Central 51-50. On a foul by Epps, BU Kierra Palmer made both free throw shots giving the Bull Dogs a 52-51 lead with just 18 seconds left in the game. With the final seconds in CCSU's possession, Lydon made a game-wiining jump shot to take back the lead with just six seconds left, sealing the victory for the Blue Devils.
