Centerville Jazz Band Research Paper

“Introducing the Centerville Jazz Band!” This phrase will forever be in my memory. Walking on to the Lucas Oil Stadium football field, hearing these words, and watching the crowd roar is an experience I find myself lucky to have had.
As a freshman, the opportunity to be a part of the Centerville Jazz Band approached me. Accepting the challenge of such an amazing program could not of benefited me more throughout high school. During my high school career, I spun in the color guard for four seasons of marching band and four seasons of winter guard. With these intense hours I was very quickly pushed to figure out how to manage my time in order to keep my grades up and also succeed in color guard. At the beginning of school my freshman year all the way through the midway point my senior year would end up being this busy. Some students would see this as overwhelming and a waste of time, and while it was overwhelming at times it challenged me in a way that I had not experienced before. Not only did the band program help me focus and get my grade where they needed to be by forcing me, in a way, to pay more attention and use my time wisely, but in a way it helped me figure out what I really want to do after school. As I grew in the color guard I was able to start help with teaching new work and help different individuals figure different skills out. I also had the opportunity to go and help teach at our middle school level color guard as well. Watching younger and more inexperienced members master skills that I helped them learn inspired me to pursue more teaching opportunities. For a little while I volunteered at my church and was able to teach other people to do the jobs that I was in charge of when I was finished. I also decided to
