Throughout the novel Darcy seem to be all about his pride but after Darcy reveals his true self in Elizabeth’s eyes and other people’s eyes of perception begins to change. People begin to respect and approve of Darcy’s power. “Darcy the “acknowledge center of power”” (Austen and Mazzeno 4). People begin to accept the fact that Darcy is a man with power but he doesn’t abuse his power. Others thought of Darcy as a self-centered man who has pride and doesn’t care about anyone. Also others believed that he doesn’t agree with anyone and always think he’s right but now they’re perception begins to change. “Darcy is an agreeable person who is intelligent and put others before himself” (Watt 111). Darcy starts to agree with others and put others ideas before his ideas. He also gives back to others and becomes more generous. Through this change the characters see a change in Darcy’s life. “Darcy rapidly change in character…is to show symbolic constraints on civilization” (Bloom, Philadelphia 194). The symbolism in this story shows how the civilization starts or tries to grow from pride and prejudice. After seeing Darcy’s change of character people begin to change and learn to up rise from pride and prejudice. Elizabeth is the one who helped Darcy change and realize that not everyone or anyone admires pride. Elizabeth Bennet is a woman looking for marriage and has three sisters looking for marriage as well. Elizabeth’s mother wants them to marry as soon as possible but the father thinks it’s best if they found their own true love. Darcy and Elizabeth met one evening at an evening ball. They started dancing with each other and from there on out Darcy becomes different or start to change. “Darcy agrees to dance with Elizabeth because of her charm. Is only agreeable to her” (White 54). Elizabeth charm was different from any other woman he has met. He has seen the intelligence of her and wants to learn more about her. After dancing Darcy decides he wants to see her more and realize that maybe he wants to be more than friends, but not before denying these feelings. “Coming closer to the end of the novel Darcy begins to fight feelings for Elizabeth” (Swisher 8). Darcy keeps himself in denial and then decides to marry her. He has so much love for Elizabeth that people begin to notice the change of Darcy. “Darcy’s love for Elizabeth enables him to accomplish entirely opposed to his resentful temper.” He has become less resentful when he talks to people and is able to actually sound more sincere.
