A complicated word isn't it, ‘censorship’. It comes from the Latin word ‘censere’ which means to give as one's opinion, something nonexistent in an Anthem society. Like many things, a world without censorship can be scary, but a world with too much of it, is a world with no meaning. Look at Anthem, the people who live in that society have no meaning, no life, no importance. Although many people can't imagine comparing the United States to an Anthem society, I believe the United States is an Anthem society because America has huge amounts of censorship when it comes to the press.…

I believe that anyone at an any given time can be subjected to some harmful or subjective material on the internet. However, we cannot allow minor and few circumstances permission to control our internet. We would become a country that we have worked so hard to become, and a country we are proud to be a part of. I don’t think Internet Censorship would do us any favors. It violates our first amendment, forces us to become a communist society, and prevents us from receiving the truth.…

Censorship in the media has been a controversial topic ever since the founding of the United States. From the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 that restrict the rights of immigrants, under the John Adams presidency, to the Edward Snowden and NSA scandal in 2013 that concerned government surveillance of its citizens and government transparency. These controversies have caused a public backlash against media censorship of any kind but there are aspects of media censorship that protect society rather than hurt it. Instead of hiding government secrets or preventing certain political ideas from being expressed, media censorship can be used to hide criminal’s and victim’s names as well to hide sensitive and graphic images or video from the public.…

Quote 8: Most youngsters don’t like reading books; they think that it’s a waste of time. Instead, they’d rather sit home and watch television, as more and more schools begin to move away from books, the more they’re avoided. The groups of people who still enjoy reading aren’t provided with any new interesting content; this is the effect of censorship. Parents of school children censor many books for their own beliefs, for example, the book may contain racism. The parent has the authority to not allow her/ his child to read it, but it’s inequitable to not allow other students to read it.…

I know this to be true, because I have experienced the life almost without censorship in Canada and with censorship in Iran, and I have read articles about censorship from two different perspectives.…
