Censorship In Government

Censorship of information continues to be a growing issue in modern society, with countless scandals that lead to a rising distrust in many federal governments. Arguments can be made both toward and against censorship, but the most effective way to pick a side is to analyze which issues weigh heaviest on the scale of a safe country. No country is ever going to become a utopia because that is an idea that only exists is fantasy, but a country that is safe and liveable is a success in the grand scheme of things. The issues of government upheaval, anarchy, and national security are not safe and liveable, but they could all arise if the practice of censorship was not used in government relations.

In actuality, if a county were to refuse the practice of censorship it would become a pandemic as well, affecting any country that held relations with previously mentioned anti-censorship country. Take the United States as an example, they are known to have had elite spies during the cold war, most likely with a focus on Russian affairs. These details have been censored from the public in order to protect our country and those who serve it. If all the secret operations of the United States were to be revealed then the there are two very likely, and very unpleasant scenarios bound to occur. The first issue being that the United States would no longer be able to go to the same lengths in order to protect their people. Countries would be receiving immediate intel on where they are being watched and know how to get around it. The second issue would be that countries who have been, or are currently being spied on would be very furious. This could lead to attacks on the United States or allies resulting in many deaths. Not only that, but the military would no longer have a government that they could take orders from so there is nothing the victimized country could do but sit there and hope for the best.
