Censorship In The Music Industry Essay

When an artist of any kind: musician, painter, writer, comedian, entertainer; is working on their next piece, they are on a mission to see it realized to their exact image, but sometimes their work is stifled. This is most prevalent in the music industry. They are trying to convey their message in the littlest of details, mixing, mastering, wordplay and lyrical references. It is wonderful to see humanity display their imagination. It is creation, but there is also a presence waiting to shred it pieces and black out the words. Its name is censorship. Censorship in the music industry is anti-creation because an artist 's image cannot be fully realized by a viewer / listener, and the organizations that censor it should be stripped of their right to do so.
When you censor a piece of music by either blocking out the words or sections with just empty space or obnoxious bleeping, you are suppressing its meaning and punch. When a song curses or swears, it is usually because the artist wants to convey emotions of anger, desperation, or …show more content…

They dictate what you can and can’t say, what you can and can’t show, and what started out as a way to make sure all non-government use of the radio spectrum was in accord with telecommunication policies, has turned into an oppressive blight of dictatorship proportions. Fines for “indecency” rose and tighter restrictions were placed on radio stations. The FCC is a vigilante corporation that believes that its job is to protect society from falling into a manic state of depravity, and if that means throwing the first amendment aside to accomplish it then so be it.
