Reading is fundamental. With this in mind, some text involves issues that are confrontational for young readers to understand. Several reasons why there is a high demand for book censorships lead to the content of the book. Common excuses of banning/removing these books involves issues such as racial issues, the reassurance of detrimental lifestyles, disrespectful dialog, sexual situations, and age inappropriate just to name a few. One children’s book that been censored repeatedly is Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey.
