Art, whether it be paintings, statues, sculptures, etc., is meant to provoke and inspire the audience. Artists use different techniques in order to provoke the feeling they want, or to display the message they feel is important, sometimes, these techniques could offend members of the audience; however, censoring art does not prevent offending/corrupting the audience, but rather limits exposure to real life situations such as racism/hate speech, sexuality, and graphic material.

If someone thinks that they might be offended by a piece of artwork, no one is forcing them to look at it. All that person would have to do is not seek out what they know will offend them. Also, not everyone is the same. Someone may be offended by a certain painting while another may think the painting is marvelous and wants to hang it up in their living room.
