The government has censored some parts of social media for the good of the people. In some case scenarios, censorship is not the worst-case solution, but when censorship leaves its’ people naïve to what happens in the world such as wars, starvation, etc., it is publicized as a serious issue (). In 1984, the Ministry of Truth is used to re-write history over and over again (). This compares the media today because we always have bias opinions and statements in the media. The information in the media is changed in order to capture the people. The media has decided that it is better to be false and gain popularity, then tell the truth about the world. Each point has a comparison to 1984, stating the similarities between Big Brother and the US government. People should have the choice to look at both sides of a story. If not, the US people are dehumanize compared to the people of Oceania. They lost hope in a better future for themselves. Every day they live in fear of the Thought Police, the Ministries, Newspeak, and the children. The US people should have the right to choose the side of choice, not one that is given without clarity.
