How Are Cell Phones Changing Society

Cellphones have changed, and are still changing the way our society functions. The history of the cellphone is a strong history, even though cellphones aren’t old they have grown fast and evolved through what society needs, and wants at the time. Because of cellphones, there are many new health and safety issues, positive and negative that have arose. A few of those negative problems are tendonitis in the thumbs and anxiety disorders from being away from the cellphone. A positive issue is that parents can contact children if they have a phone. It is very unhealthy to have an anxiety of not being with your cellphone. We do not need to be in constant communication and it could be healthy to unplug and relax for a bit. Education has also changed. I know that I can Google anything that I have a question about and I have an answer right away. This can become a big problem due to the fact that no one will retain information, because they have all the information at their fingertips. When a student is constantly on their phone, then they have less vocal communication. There are rules at the dinner table in a lot of households that says there are no phones at the table. This is probably one of the few times during the day that a student has a conversation with another human without using their phone. This is the time for the parent to have a real conversation with their children. The less we have face-to-face conversations, the more attached we get to our cell phones. Some children do not know how to have a conversation without their phones. I know for me that sometimes I would rather text message someone than talk to them in person.
