Some states have now made it illegal to drive while using a handheld cellphone. Driving is an opportunity that can allow freedom. With the use of cellphones that freedom can be taken away with just a simple text. Many people agree with the law that cellphone use should be illegal. The usage of phones while driving is a major cause to accidents involving teens, and phones can also be a distraction, which can lead to traffic violations and tickets. Though many teens rely on technology such as the use of their cellphones it can lead to potentially dangerous outcomes. When my family and I were in North Carolina at softball tournament we were in a car accident, in which i suffered a concussion, due to a teenage girl who had just recently gotten her license was checking a text while driving. Therefore i agree that cellphone use should be illegal to make the streets safer and accident free. Teenagers have become attached to technology and the use of social media. Cellphones can be a distraction which can lead to traffic violations and tickets. Social media can lead to the distraction of teens on the road who are intent on checking on the new hottest trend. Snapchat is a huge example of a distraction. It allows a person to send pictures or videos of oneself to a friend while making funny faces, which can lead to the inability to see a stop sign, and receive a ticket. Facebook is a major one too, and can lead to the distraction of checking other peoples posts, and lead a person to run a red light. Consequently the use of cellphones is never a great idea while driving. Admittedly the percentage for the use of cellphones while driving will decrease over the years.
