In the book Blue Gold the mom tells Fiona and her dad that she does not let her kids oout of the house unless they have a cell phone with them (Blue Gold). Yes there are cell phones in classrooms but without cell phones there is nothing to help contact parents when they are no in school lets say when a student is walking to school there are no phones available and if there is a ban they can’t have it during the time since the place they might be heading to is school where it is banned. Cell phones are also a quick and easy way to contact kids (Document 1). Even though there are phones in class if lot of parents would call their children it would make this process very slow making cell phones a better tool to contact parents. There are times when cel phones are a distraction but also times when cell phones have to do alot with safty.
Cell phones are a learing tool much more then they are a distraction to kids in school. So should you allow the ban on cell phones knowing that the ban will not stop all kids from bringing their cell phones to school, cell phones are a good tool, and that cell phones help people know that they are safe. Although cell phones can be seen as a distraction there are also many poitives to cell phones. North Eugene High School would be a better place if the cell phone policy would stay how it is cell phones use cell phones should be allowd but not in classrooms without a teacher’s

I feel if kids had their phones with them at school it could help them stay safe in multiple situations and could help them communicate with their family if they don't have an other methods to do so. In certain situations having a phone nearby for your use could be quite useful, in situations like lockdowns and such because of a hurricane, earthquake, etc. you could use the phone to communicate with your parents and inform them about what happened and tell them that you're okay and you could also use it to call for help in case of an emergency.…
