Nancy Baym states in the article, “the more you communicate with people using devices, the more likely you are to communicate with those people face to face.” This may be true, but when meeting in person for the first time, there is a good chance it will be awkward because he or she have never heard their voice or if they use sarcasm, they may not catch on to it as easily. Some may say that the internet is also helping with the dating websites people use. People meet on dating websites all the time and some of them do end up working out. However, these dating websites aren’t going to tell you everything about the person so when meeting for the first time, a person may be caught off guard and feel very uncomfortable the whole date.
