Why Are Cell Phones Important In Education

Cell phones have been an active ingredient in our daily lives assisting people in more ways than ever imagined. However, there has been a lot of confusion over the years regarding cellular devices, such as androids and iPhones, because many believe them to be a hindrance to a students’ education. Although this is debatable, in this day in age there is a lot of evidence proving that cell phones are an aid to education rather than a hinderance. In addition, cell phones provide an element of safety to people’s lives.
Crime rates have dropped due to the advancements of technology. People can now contact the police as soon as possible when they are in the face of danger. James Alan Fox, a criminologist at Northeastern University in Boston, gave four main reasons for the decline of crimes. One of the four listed was the improvement of technology overtime. Since 1993, violent crime rates have dropped 48%. The rate of all homicides has dropped 50.5%. The rate of forcible rape has dropped 34.5% since 1993 as well. Hypothetically speaking, if there were house fire and a child is left home alone, they can contact the police and firefighters using their cell phone, instead of struggling to find the house phone.

Thanks to cell phones, teachers can simply email students homework. Therefore, putting their phones to good use. Google Docs allows you to create, share, and collaborate on documents online. By collaborating on documents a person does not need to send it as an attachment and wait until the other person sends it back with revisions. Google Docs allows you to revise a person’s work in real time. Evernote is a note taking website that can be used to encourage students to take notes on their phones. Students tend to complain that there are too many notes to write or that their hands are cramping
