Cell Phones And Cancer

I have a hard time saying either way whether cell phones can cause cancer. My dilemma comes from my mother’s personal experience with cell phones and cancer, and the information presented in a few of the articles refuting the idea of cell phones causing cancer. My mother’s experience stems from working the radiology department at my local hometown hospital. She has seen and heard about a few cases of young women developing cancer where they keep their phone. Because she is employed at the hospital she receives articles that lean towards the idea of cell phones causing cancer. She has started telling me to not keep my cell phone in my bra, this is a recent development of hers. This catches my attention because my mother is not one of those crazy health care workers that takes everything said for gold. For her recent interest in this matter and her personal experience it is hard for me not to disregard the possibility for cell phones causing cancer.
There are a few scientific articles that I read today that make it hard for me to believe the possibility of cell phones causing cancer. The one that comes to mind is the “Can You Hear Me Now? The Truth about Cell Phones and Cancer” by Michael Shermer. In his article he points out the electromagnetic radiation that is put out from a cell phone is 480 kilojoules per mole. Cell phones waves are

Ms. Moyer points out that Mr. Shermer glossed over other important facts and possibilities that cell phone waves may have effect on different parts of the cell, not including the DNA of a cell. She also brings up that we still do not fully understand how cancer functions and what triggers it. I think she was right to bring up the idea that just because cell phone waves are not strong enough to damage DNA it may damage something else in the cell that could trigger the cell to go crazy and start

Blaming the use of cellphones for complications such as failing relationships, becoming depressed and the lack of ability to plan is somewhat ridiculous. I agree that the constant use of cellphones affect our actions and the way that we think but the personality of a subject is what causes break ups and depressions. I am not in any way saying that a persons cellphone usage is irrelevant to those complications. The use of cellphones play a part in failing relationships and depressions but the part cellphones play in those complications are very minimal compared to other…

What are health sissies coursed by RadioWaves Radio Waves emit Radio Frequency (RF) radiation, which can give off a high or low RF energy. If the radio wave gives of a high RF it can course serious health effects coursing burns and tissue damage which can be absorbed into large amounts of water, food and fluids and can be the course of cancer. If the radio wave gives of a low RF it still can course burns and tissue damage, but can not be the course of cancer. Low Radio Waves can not course cancer since it is a non-inoizing radiation, other non-ionizing radiation include visible light, Microwaves and infrared radiation. All of these non-inoizing do not have enough energy to course the inoization of atoms and molecules to change in the human…

A scientific claim made about cell phones is whether or not radiofrequency energy exposure possibly causes cancer or other negative health risks or effects. 4 Cell phones emit an electromagnetic, non-ionizing form of radiation as radiofrequency energy from their antennas. This energy can be absorbed by nearby tissue such as your ear. Electromagnetic non-ionizing radiation is low energy and low frequency.…

There were many instances where I conducted research; however, I have never actually worked in the field. The number of people who were using their cellphones at the mall was shocking, it seemed that about 70% of the people that I looked at either had their cellphone on top of their table, in their hand, or were using it. The most frequent pattern that I noticed was walking and texting and the least frequent pattern was people using their cellphone’s while someone was talking to them. I did not observe anything that could counter the census amongst the researchers that the use of cellular devices could lead to a decline in social and psychological health of the user. The area is lacking in research and further research is needed.…

Many people are concerned about the dangers that cell phones pose, and they are told that keeping it a greater distance from their heads and using devices such as headphones can diminish much of the radiation; all of which is true. Unfortunately, since the technology industry has made the invention of wireless headphones, if people use their cell phones in conjunction with these devices, the radiation dosage can be even greater than normal. Using Bluetooth, the main type of wireless communication between devices, can have just as much electromagnetic radiation as talking on the phone. One team realized this and began to test the power density rating and the specific absorption rate (SAR), both of which measure radiation dosages. This team…
