In a survey conducted by Patterson’s American Education, 24% of high school principals say that their high school has a strict no cell phones policy (Obringer and Coffey 2.). Those same principals were asked what the consequence was if a student’s cell phone went off in the middle of class. A very popular response was confiscation until a parent/guardian would be able to retrieve the phone. When asked if the same policy applies to teachers, most did not have an answer.
