The title of the article is: The Use and Abuse of Cell Phones and Text Messaging in the Classroom: A Survey of College Students. The title of this article is indeed straightforward. It is easy to understand the purpose of this article. You would not have to be a communication and journalism major to be able to understand the study that has been conducted in this article. The first part of the title identifies the general topic of cell phone usage and texting, while the second part identifies that they are specifically measuring this in college classrooms. I do believe they could have been clearer on if they are looking for a correlation between text messaging in the classroom and academic success.

The abstract of this article was quick to point out the importance, purpose, methodologies, and the key findings of the study that the authors conducted. The purpose of the article is to look at the extent of cell phone usage in the academic setting, as cell phones become a great part of society. By using the methodology of surveying 269 college students from a small university in the northeastern part of the country, the key findings were that found were clear.
