Cell phones are in high demand by customers everywhere. It is a way to connect with people and be able to make life easier with all the features that cell phones have. In our SBA, we decided to talk about technology. We made a more focused decision and chose the cell phone industry. Mainly focusing on customers in north America that seek their carriers in-store. This analysis of the cell phone in the technology industry will include research of the timeline of a cell phone before hitting the market, Porter’s Five Forces, Griffin Model’s General and Task environment, and levels of marketing and innovation Turbulence. For the Porter’s Model, we included all the components (new entrants, substitutes, power of buyers and suppliers) and we added in the opportunities that the industry can take. This includes adults 65 years of age and older (Rainie, 2013). Smartphones are the newest technology in cell phones and they are definitely the kind of phone that everyone has or wants. Consumers always want to get the newest smartphone cell phone. When a new Iphone comes out, people line up at the cell phone stores the night before to be one of the first ones to get the new phone. A normal cell phone contract is two years, so when that contract is up, people can upgrade to the newest phone. There are people out there who do not wait until that contract ends and buys the phone the day it comes out. People are becoming addicted to their cell phones. “Research shows that 73 percent of Americans would feel "panicked" if they lost their mobile phone, while 14 percent took it a step further and said they would feel "desperate" without their device,” (Smartphone Addiction Has Turned Mobile Devices Into 'Our Other Limb ', 2013).
