Cell Phone Behavior Change

The type of behavior that I intended to change was to lessen the usage of my cell phone everyday. The change in cell phone usage consisted of texting less, which distracts me when I am doing homework and other things that I should be doing. The goal is to reduce the time I am on my phone, by using my phone less hours a day. Reducing the hours I use my cell phone will cause me to have more time to do other productive things that I need to do. The environment conditions are that I am usually at my apartment trying to focus on homework or studying for classes. I usually procrastinate when I do homework and my cell phone makes it difficult to stay on task. My cell phone is very distracting to my efforts in trying to get homework done early. I commonly get off task and end up doing other things like browsing the internet or texting people on my phone. The cause of my goal is to allow more time to study or homework without becoming distracted by my phone. I have noticed my phone often distracts me from studying for my classes. The baseline that I observed was that every time I got bored or my phone buzzed I would pull out my phone to look at or answer it. Sometimes I would forget when I got home that I was doing this project. After I realized I forgot I tried writing my self a note so I would remember. My evaluation over task of less cell phone use was difficult and challenging. I tried to stick to the plain and keep on track. There were sometime when I had to use my phone to make a call or something like that. Overall I think I did pretty well on cutting down the hours of cell phone use. I think I should have made my reinforcement better when I would not use my cell phone. I did not know exactly what to use as a
