When analyzing the novel Alice-a young 15 year old girl, is introduced as timid and scared, her mother has just attempted to take her life she has also just murdered a cab driver, while speaking in an inaudible language. Alice for obvious reasons is overwrought when the main character clay and his comrade Tom find her. She is frantically running in a blood stained dress down the destroyed streets of Boston. The novel continues with planes blowing up and readers are quick to assume terrorism is at play. Especially after 9/11 is brought up frequently. But Stephen still insists on every crazy person described as on their cellphones and he only vaguely hints the importance of the cellular device to the plot. This quote really gives an insight to what the novel will further be about it also gives readers many questions such as; What could the cell phones possibly be doing to people? Throughout the lives of many young people the phrase “technology is taking over” is a constant thought Well stephen king manages to hit this term right on the nose. his novel cell based in boston following the life of a middle aged man named clay who refuses to own a cellphone. as he in waiting in line for ice cream he notices strange behaviour from citizens of boston particularly those on their cellphones. But he only notices complete madness after looking over his shoulder to see a man with his dogs ear in his mouth followed by people speaking in tongues and trying to kill everything around them.
Stephen is also able to take a young and fearful girl and turn her into a leader just as many novels do today his young character Alice goes from the fearful girl who just lost her mother into a leader that will do anything to survive this book can easily be connected to novels such as hunger games which also follows a young girl fighting for her survival in a world full of those that want her
