Cell Biology Personal Statement

I was first introduced to basic cell biology in sixth grade. As I learned more about the field of cell biology, my interest grew and adapted to include genetics, cellular oncology, and cell anatomy. The following year, seventh grade, I wrote a research essay about the effects of cancer at the most basic level: cellular. I discussed this research with nearly a hundred people, explaining different processes and systems to people who had no interest in what I was explaining in great detail. In college, I hope to continue this passion for learning and discussion by earning a doctorate degree in genetics or oncology at the cellular level. After college, I will learn more still by conducting my own research in the fields of oncology and cell biology. Furthermore, I opted to take my advanced placement classes in my senior year, so that I could simulate a workload similar to that of one taken in college, which would then allow my transition from high school to college to be more straightforward. Although I chose for my advanced placement classes to be taken in my senior year, I took several dual credit courses and took honors classes when my schedule would allow it. I also chose to take classes in which I was truly invested and that would help me with my chosen career path, rather than simply taking classes with subject matter in which I had no interest in continuing to learn, though they were considered advanced classes.
