Celine Marie Claudette Dion was born on March 30 1968 in Charlemagne Quebec. She was the youngest in the family out of 14 kids. Celine was named after the song Celine that her mom used to sing when she was pregnant.

Her mom’s name is Therese Tanguay Dion and her dad’s name is Adhemar Charles Dion. She has 14 siblings including herself. She has 8 sisters who are Manon, Denise, Ghislaine, Liette, Louise, Linda, Claudette and Pauline. Celine has 5 brothers which are Jaques, Clement, Paul, Michel Dondalinger and Daniel.They were a very musical family.

For school, Celine went to École St. Jude in Charlemagne, Quebec. That was the local elementary school. For high school, she went to West Humber Collegiate in Toronto. In high school, Celine was

So, her mother wrote a song “Ce n’était qu'un reve” (It was only a dream) and sent it to Rene Angelil, a popular music manager of that time. He was so impressed by Celine’s voice that he asked to hear it live in his office. Rene decided to become her manager. He even mortgaged his own house to sell her album.

A French songwriter, Eddy Marnay, was introduced to Celine by Rene Angelil. After hearing her sing, he found a name for his album. “C’est la voix du bon dieux”( It’s god’s voice).

For many years, she and Rene made albums like “Celine chante Noel”( Celine sings Christmas) and “Tellement j’ai l’amour”( I have so much love). In 1981, she won a gold medal at the World popular song festival in Tokyo. Then a couple months later, she released a new album called “D’amour ou d’amitié”( Love or friendship).

On December 24 1982, she got a plaque from the mayor of Charlemagne for the great honour she did to her country by singing as an international star.

In January 1983, Celine was chosen to represent Canada at the International market of disc and musical edition. She sung the song “D’amour ou d’amitié”. Then in France, she launched the album” Du soleil au ceour”(Some sunshine in the heart). and recorded 2 tv shows “ The games of 20:00” and “
