Celestin Freinet, a renowned educational philosopher, a reformer of education and classroom teacher, offers some insight into the relationship between student and text. He suggests that the texts we introduce into our classrooms should demonstrate respect and integrity towards the student. “If we intend to set up classrooms in which children are allowed freedom to make choices, we must trust children to be able to act responsibly. Thus we begin with Freinet’s view of children and their motivation for learning: “The child is of the same nature as the adult””(Temple and Rodero 165).     In my opinion, the cases in our reading require teachers to behave in a professional manner and to exercise good judgment in choosing methods of teaching. The readings also indicate that when the public does not agree with material or political views, that in itself is not justification to suppress information in the school. In Pickering v. BOE, a case demonstrating freedom of expression, the teacher had the right to express their concern over how the BOE was handling public funds.
