Celebrification Examples

The theme I pick for this assignment will be on political leaders and an election campaign. To understand the “celebrification” of politics and the promotional techniques used to cultivate a political leader. The public persona /political figure I decided to focus on is Donald J Trump during this ongoing 2016 U.S election campaign. The reason behind making an essay on the 58th quadrennial U.S presidential election is because there weren’t any scholarly articles or even news articles going over the connections between “celebrification” and the current election other their superficial parts. But most of all what I’m trying to discuss in this essay as my thesis is how Donald Trump participation in the 2016 general election is a great example of how “Celebrification” can undermine contemporary democracy. Techniques like public relations, lobbying, professional fields, advertising, marketing, and branding will all get a definite part of how they played a role in this. (2)My second argument will showcase why and how controversial figures like Trump attract more coverage for the media, regardless if it’s good or bad publicity. In media attention for the 2016 presidential election Donald J trump is clearly winning in that regard; as in there is no other candidate since the election started that is constantly talked about on the news like Trump. (3) As for my last argument would be on how the public reacts to Trump, a celebrity with almost no filter taking the center stage instead of an experienced politician.
