Thomas’ window and blamed CeCe for it. Finally the weekend, CeCe and I decided to play a game of baseball, which we always did on a great weekend such as this. It was a bright and sunny day in the month of July. The sky was clear and painted a bright blue and the shiny green grass sparkled in the sun. I was the batter, as usual, and CeCe was the pitcher. CeCe’s dad had taught her how to play when she was still small, and she grew to become an excellent player. When we met, she was able to teach me. She even played on the team at her school. The two of us enjoying an afternoon game of baseball, CeCe pitched the ball to me, and I swung the bat as hard as I could. The ball then went flying through the air and hit our neighbor, Mr. Thomas’, window. Mr. Thomas, an elderly man about the age of 70, was a kind and generous man. Since the day we had been in the neighborhood, he was always there to help us through hard times. There was a loud crash as the glass broke. Mr. Thomas, who lived across the street from us, was sitting inside when it happened. He heard the crash and looked through his living room window in which he spotted us and hurried outside. Mr. Thomas always wore a smile on his face, even when he was upset. He did a very good job of hiding his true feelings, but the look on his face at that particular time was not a happy one. Mr. Thomas, a generous and forgiving man, denied the payment from my parents and instead told us be more careful next time. My parents said they were disappointed in us for not being careful, but ultimately, I was ashamed and disappointed in myself. I had lied on my best friend and the guilt was unbearable. The next day, I called CeCe on the phone. “I’m so sorry for what I did,” I told her. “Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?” I heard her sigh into the phone, then she hung up.
