Ce1 Communication

Functions of communication in organizations are, providing knowledge, motivating the organization’s members, controlling and coordinating group activities, and encouraging the expression of feelings and emotions. In CE1 the function that was served was, “providing knowledge.” I was able to talk to the team about my experiences, when working for the different bosses, I had over the past three years. We also discussed, the many reasons we needed to listen to everything that goes on in other sections of the Joint Operations Center, in order to maintain situation awareness of the mission. The function in CE1 that was not used and should have been is, “expressing feelings”. Because the role in the JOC operations is an additional duty, I later found that team members are overwhelmed with their full time work, and need to be given some time during the weekends to complete some of their normal duties, and the work needed to be split up further among individuals. …show more content…
This was the first of many meetings to discuss, how we should divide the work for accreditation, across the geographically separated, family programs. We discussed the roles of both the Air Guard, and the Army Guard family programs, and set timelines of when we want products completed. The function in CE1 that was not used is “motivating organizational members.” Because the family programs are not only geographically separated, two are from the Air Guard, and the other six programs are from the Army Guard. As a whole the programs do not see the need to go through the accreditation process, and are not motivated to work together in getting this accreditation

Individual Analysis: ACCJC Background Reviewing recent reports surrounding the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) reveals that there are many issues that have been proposed in regard to the efficiency and efficacy of their accreditation processes (CITE). For this reason, many feel that the ACCJC is not meeting their obligation to maintain institutional quality. In the following sections, I will discuss what issues specifically the ACCJC is having in terms of maintenance of institutional quality and what recommendations have been suggested for the commission to improve it’s accreditation processes. These recommendations were derived—in some cases—by comparing the ACCJC to other accrediting commissions and modeling…

When communicating in CE1 the process that worked especially well is the “medium.” We were able to sit in a group and use verbal communication to have an open discussion. I knew that the Solders were interested in learning this additional duty, because I was receiving good questions on the processes. We were able to open up the briefing slides and discuss why the bosses needed to see information on a slide and the format that we might need to change in the future. The communication process that failed in CE2 is, “decoding.” Because the Air Guard does not see the importance, or relevance on why we need to go through this accreditation process, during the meeting we ran into many barriers to the recommendations that were proposed that influenced…

“The magic happens when you step outside your comfort zone.” This proverb sums up everything I went through when I recently attended the Air Force Academy’s Summer Seminar in July. While there, I was pushed well beyond my limits. We, the attendees, did strenuous physical training sessions at roughly a mile above sea level, woke up before the sun rose, attended sample classes, and studied tons of military knowledge while learning about the Air Force Academy and the admission process. It was truly a challenge being there, and I loved every minute of it!…
