Ccu Application Reflection

Improved Essays
CSU application open date was October 1, 2017, which means that this week the Transfer Center was busy. I can honestly say that this week was the week I spent the most time in our computer lab assisting students while students were completing their applications. This fall semester all CSU campuses are utilizing a brand new online admission application; therefore, a lot of learning is happening while helping students. Students have many questions that at times I am not able to answer nor counselors and we cannot provide students an answer based on our assumptions instead I have been calling admission officers from various four-year institutions to seek clarification. Through this experience, I have learned how collaboration between four-year

When deciding whom to interview for this paper I first thought about what area of higher education I wanted to learn more about. After thinking of a few different individuals I decided to interview Sabrina Tapps-Fee, a Senior Admission Counselor and Coordinator of the Tour Guide program for the University of Iowa. I decided to interview Sabrina, because admissions is an area of higher education that really interests me. I knew Sabrina had a long history working in admissions and I was interested in learning more about her experiences.…

As a student program coordinator for the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE), I have been fortunate enough to receive the opportunity to work with higher education administrators. These administrators have groomed and prepared me for a future in higher education administration. The willingness and determination that I have to contribute has lead me to hold several positions within this well recognized and established department on campus. Current positions that I hold within the CARE department include; “Summer Bridge Transition and Engagement Mentor”, “CARE Guide and Delegate”, “Student Program Coordinator for FGEN2FSU”, “Transition Engagement Academic Mentor”, as well as “Student Support Service Advisory Board Chair”. It would be the greatest honor to be a TRIO SSS transfer mentor for Wenatchee Valley College students. I am interested in being a transfer mentor because as a first-generation college student I understand that being a first-generation student of color comes with barriers, but also gives me a unique and valuable perspective with which to bring to higher education. My parents only have an elementary education and have no understanding of the U.S educational system and as the middle child of five siblings, I understand the responsibilities and pressures youth in these populations have with shouldering the burden to accessing and disseminating information to their entire family. Additionally, I understand the cultural challenges some students of color may face as many traditional households discourage pursuing…

Ethical Considerations The Capella University IRB committee supported the development of the training manual as a curriculum for the workshop. Swank and Smith-Adcock (2013) shared insight from an empirical study that admissions counselors (recruiters) are a crucial part of the ethical and legal responsibilities of the counseling profession (p. 47). The importance of the role of admissions recruiters in higher education admissions cannot be ignored. The committee saw no ethical challenges in conducting the appreciative inquiry forums with the admissions recruiters; the committee recognized the benefit of soliciting recruiter opinions on how to improve communications to increase their proficiency in engaging prospective students.…

It has come to my knowledge that there is a limited amount of spots in the ENG 102 class for next semester. I am one of the best candidates to continue into ENG 102 and thrive in Ms. Laduca’s learning environment. Although I do not fear that I have not already earned my spot, I will proceed to justify my case. I have been an adroit student of Ms. LaDuca’s for the last year and a half; she knows exactly what kind of student I am. Since seventh grade, I have been an ebullient honors student in the top ten percent of the 2016 cohort and have not received any grades lower than an A. I always exceed expectations, put in 110% of my effort, and achieve and maintain excellent grades at the same time.…

Since I have moved to Blacksburg, Virginia Tech has truly been the only university that my eyes and ears have been open to. There is also the fact that the Hokie Birds scattered all through Main Street, and the amount of people in my school sporting Tech gear, is difficult to ignore. What attracted me to Virginia Tech first and foremost, was the sporting. The students around me always got excited for the games, and I personally enjoyed seeing Burnt orange and Chicago maroon all over Blacksburg. The way the students and the community came together during sports made me happy and I couldn’t help but feel pride in living in Blacksburg.…

Narrative Essay It was at the beginning of my senior year when my counselor started urging my senior class to start thinking about what universities we wanted to apply to. At the time, I did not know which universities I wanted to apply to or what were the differences between a Cal State, a UC, and a Private University. I did not even know about financial aid.
