During my time spent at CCAC I discovered a lot about myself, I learned that I love working in collaborative settings and I really believe that will help me in the future. I also learned a lot of information about the field of early education. The early childhood field has a distinctive history, values, knowledge base, and has a mission. I learned that as a teacher is important for me to be open with everyone and to fight for what I believe in, in a respectful way to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all my students.

Joining the New Visions program was one of the wisest decisions I have made. When nurses that I shadow at Unity Hospital express how jealous they are that they didn’t have a program like this when they were in high school, it reminds me to take advantage of this opportunity that not every student receives. I am confident that when I graduate college, I will be able to recollect this program, and how it led me to be successful. I will reminisce about the long hours dedicated to each college-level assignment in determination to receive a grade in the high 90’s, or that moment when I witnessed a five pound baby be born from a cesarean delivery, or even when I stood next to the operating table observing a total knee replacement surgery, while the surgeon and nurses took the time to teach me about what they were doing--an opportunity that not even college nursing students were able to see. Every assignment I completed, conversation I had, and person I met, has transformed me into a more educated and open minded student.…

To do this activity, I calculated my BAC based off a 12 oz regular beer that contains about 5% alcohol. As a result, my expected BAC after 2 standard drinks within 1 hour was 0.06% and my BAC after 5 standard drinks within 3 hours was 0.1425%. I was very surprised by the findings of this activity and I think what shocked me the most was reading the different predictable effects. For instance, for someone whose BAC is between .05%…

EDA 103-80 Final This semester I was excited to take EDA 103 because I have always loved working with special education students and I wanted to learn more about the kids I was helping. I have learned a lot of important information from this course, but I think the most important thing I have learned is how to be sensitive when speaking of a student’s disability. Prior to this semester, I did not see how statements like, “That student is a handful because of their disability” or “I love all of my students who have Down syndrome”, could be so offensive.…
