Cb Sister Analysis

This was not one of my favorite playwrights. It left me feeling depressed and sad. It could be a very real reenactment of what actually happens in some of our high schools across America. Maybe that’s why it left me depressed. It reinforces my belief that life comes down to love and acceptance. We all have a desire to be loved and to give love and when that’s not appropriately given it can lead to emotional, mental and physical breakdowns. I’m having a hard time picking a character that I could play. There is a part of each character that I can identify with but I am not positive how well I could play the part. CB sister, Sally, would be the one I would pick. She cracks me up as she changes her philosophy on life often. She is a teenager in …show more content…
CB and CB sister try to have a funeral for the dog. Neither one of them can give an explanation of God therefore they argue about who should offer a prayer. CB goes to his peer group to somehow explain God and the death of his dog only to find they don’t have any answers his friends are more concerned about the upcoming party at Macy’s house. The movie comes to a climax when CB realizes the bullying that’s been happening to Beethoven and his real feelings toward Beethoven. I’m not sure if these feelings are true and real or it’s just CB’s way of saying his sorry and making peace with God (the God of heaven that has his dog). This relationship escalates at the party when CB decides to kiss Beethoven in front of his peers. This relationship brings out a lot of feelings and everyone around them. Matt is extremely jealous and takes it out on Beethoven which in the end becomes a Beethoven’s breaking point. This is the point at which he takes his own life. The last scene brings it all full-circle. CB gets a letter from God. This letter encourages him to stay strong even in the rough times. The letter refers to the life in heaven where his dog and Beethoven are living happy peaceful lives. It’s beautiful to see all of the peers come together and read this letter. It leaves the audience with

After seeing the play, Silent Sky, it opened my eyes to all of the inequality that occurred during the time of the early 1900’s. During this time, women didn’t have equal roles as men did when it came to work and opportunities. Silent Sky is an educational play that teaches the lesson on how a person should follow their dreams, never stop fighting for their rights, and not give up on their dreams. The play had five actors, with one actor playing only one character. The main character, Henrietta Leavitt, is an inspiring astronomer who began working at Harvard University.…

Refried Elvis is a swiftly paced parody that packs a Presley punch. With familiar tunes and modern jokes, it’s fun for the whole family. From beginning to end it’s as smart as it is funny, and guaranteed to entertain. I found the acting to be nearly impeccable, as all on stage seemed entirely committed to their characters, actions, and intent. No matter how serious or silly the scene, I found the believability to be there.…

One of the most important aspects of a play is the characters. The plot cannot be successfully portrayed to an audience unless the characters are well written. The personality of a character can have a major impact on the way a plot flows. Amongst other things, an individual’s personality is shaped by their experiences. Not only does this apply to the main characters in a play, but this is important for the supporting characters as well.…

Out of all the characters in the plays I would chose Christine, for I'm curious to she how she's doing after the events of the first play and so she can have a fun day with no fears. At the start of the day we shall head off to downtown Toronto and watch street performers for a couple of hours and then go find some food. My reasoning behind this is Christine has talent and I would want to show her some of the amazing talents. After eating we can go off to Ripley's Aquarium and see some awesome sea life, this place is really neat for in one of the areas its a moving sidewalk and the fish can swim over your head and there can be a shark that swims right beside you and this dome like area. Later on we shall wonder around into small shops that…

Possibly the most exciting achievement in August Wilson’s career is his creation of the Century Cycle. It is a series of ten plays that illustrates the African American experience in the twentieth century. Each play is set in a different decade as they give realistic encounters of the various events that happens in that particular decade. The cycle isn’t a serial story but there are repeated appearances of characters at different stages of their life. However, many have pointed out Wilson’s lack of female characterization in his plays.…
