"You know they loathe us, aren't you furious?" The hundred foot venture.

This announcement made me consider the issue of race and here are my modest musings on this matter.

Cautioning: Before you continue, read this with an open heart.

Individuals with a darker skin have had numerous difficulties in the course of the most recent couple of hundreds of years as a result of the shade of their skin. It takes valor to be dark in this world, it takes mettle to appear as something else. I am certain after we incarnated as people, a few of us asked why on the planet we picked our skin shading :)

I pondered what it resemble to be white, be that as it may I never wished I was white. I am agreeable in my skin and completely cherish and acknowledge myself as I am.

No, I am not furious on account of the way they treat me or on the off chance that they even like me.

No, I am not furious on the grounds that some of them can't acknowledge me as I am.

No, I am not furious on the grounds that they don't be able to make me irate without my endorsement regardless of how they treat me.

No, I am not irate in light of the fact that they see shading when...

I see God in them.

I see their light.

I see their eternality.

I see their eminence.

I see their magnificence.

I see their magnificence.

I see their light amidst their obscurity.

I see them...

What's more, regardless of what they do or say, particularly when they abide in their haziness... I cherish them!

Since that is all I have for them and for every one of my siblings and sisters regardless of what the shade of their skin is.

Recollect that, we are all distinctive, yet we as a whole originate from the same source. How about we cherish each other, we should be joined together, we should be ONE.

Fatal Invention, by Dorothy Roberts (2011) was an extremely powerful reading. It opened my eyes tremendously to racism, both from the past and the present. I knew racism was something people faced each and every day, but I don’t think I ever registered that it happened or happens to this degree. The term “race” has been applied to discriminate against different groups of individuals. Robert’s talks about the history of race and how it has come to be today.…

In Firoozeh Dumas’ “Laughing Without an Accent,” she writes many accounts about how her differences made her and her family stand out, and not necessarily in a good way. One account that I can relate to is in the chapter, entitled “Peelings, Nothing More Than Peelings. In this chapter, Dumas describes how because they had a lighter more European skin than most Iranians, they were put higher on the social ladder. However, this also caused them to be mistaken as foreigners in the market where vendors would attempt to rack up the price even though she knew better.…

“Sana, Sana, Colita de Rana,” is a silly Hispanic chant which literally translates into “heal, heal, little frog's tail.” My mother, she would sing these few words while rubbing my injured knee with her soft worn hands. My pain would instantly vanish. I would be in awe, after all, my mother just performed a magic. She took away any evidence of pain.…

This is America “This is America, speak English.” It is sad to say that I am not the only person who has had this said to them. It has been more than once that I have had concerned American citizens interrupt my Spanish conversations with my mother or friends just to tell me to speak English. I never get furious at comments like those. Although they are upsetting, I would never think of lashing out and being rude back.…

One time that I have been really angry is when I lost my starting spot for basketball. Basketball was always my favorite sport and I was already struggling with shooting at the time so this was a really difficult thing for me to swallow. I have always been a very good shooter and everyone just expected me to make my shots. All of the plays for a three-point basket used to be ran to me, but I started missing more and more shots all year. Soon, some of my friends started making fun of me because I wasn't shooting well, and they acted like it was all a joke.…
