The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Incident happened on March 25, 1911. The workers worked on the 8th and 9th floor of the building. The fire started by a cigarette someone had dropped. The owners, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, where the first to escape. They escaped by climbing to the roof and jumped to the next building. The workers on the 9th floor was not alerted, and the workers on the 8th floor could smell the smoke of the fire. The only exit was lock by the owners and the only way out was the elevator. The ladders on the fire trucks could not reach the floors the workers were trapped on. Soon workers started to fall out of the windows while burning. 145 people died in the incident. 71 people were injured and the youngest death was 14 years
