The behavioral symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder are putting thing off all the time, enjoying quiet time or just enjoying being alone. The physical symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder can cause tightening of the body or feeling tense sometimes. Patients can be jumping all the time and always on the defense when people are asking them questions or having just a normal conversation. The doctor then determines if the symptoms and degree of dysfunction is a specific anxiety disorder. GAD is diagnosed if symptoms are present for more days than not during a period of at least six months. The symptoms also must interfere with daily living, such as causing you to miss work or school or other important things.
