Cause Of Death In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

The death of Romeo and Juliet was a tragic and sorrowful event in the play the “Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”. Shakespeare, the author of this play lived in the a time called the renaissance era where plays were very popular and a common event in most towns. The play starts out with heart broken Romeo who then goes to a ball and meets a girl named Juliet he is stunned at the beauty of this girl. There is one problem the girl he has met is a capulet, his families sworn enemies, they go to see eachother but Romeo kills people in the process and he is banished they both become distraught because Juliet has to marry paris and she fakes her death. Romeo finds her and thinks she is dead and kills himself juliet wakes up and finds him dead and she kills herself. The death of both Romeo and Juliet was a curious event, simply because of the question who is to blame for the death of these two. There are many characters in this play but the the main ones are Romeo, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, Rosaline, Montague and Paris. The truth is they each contributed in some way shape or form to the death of these lovers.

Rosaline was Romeo's love before Juliet but did not love Romeo back. In fact Rosoline once stated that she would rather stay abstinent the rest of life than be with Romeo. This grave disappointment led Romeo to find Juliet and that is were the problems begin. But one could also say that the friar lawrence was equally to blame. The friar knew this type of love was dangerous and proved that by saying, “these violent delights have violent ends and in their triumph die/like fire and powder/ which as they kiss consume”.(2.4-10) Previous to the scene Romeo had asked the friar to marry him to Juliet, and as the quote stated he warned them of the consequence but still married them and in that way is the Friar also to
