Can anyone prove the real reason how the Chicago Fire started? In this report I will be telling you what really happened. The weather of October 1871 had been very dry and this caused the fire to spread from the southwest side and moved up to the north and the east side. On October 8, the worst disaster in the “ windy city” happened when a cow from the O’Leary barn knocked down a lantern and the fire spread up in a rush of flames. Mrs. O’Leary ended up denying this. When the fire ended on the 10 th three-hundred people were dead and over 100,000 were left homeless. The city rebuilt quickly which spurred economic development and led to population
