As juicy flavors of grease stream down the hand of a person holding a burger, and the aroma of the charcoaled steak fumes through the hungry man 's nasal cavities, his body screams "heart disease". A cup of milk was just chugged, and the girl wonders why her stomach hurts. The factory across the street that produces the meat in the local market chokes up harmful chemicals that are dispersed into the air, polluting Mother Earth. But the rejuvenated vegan across the room just finished a heavy meal consisting of a veggie burger and a tall glass of almond milk, yet feels and looks as healthy as ever. And the land that only farms vegetables uses less water and less toxic gases than farming livestock. Stomach aches, heart disease, and air pollution are only a few of the downsides to eating animal products; consuming these destroys the human …show more content…
Families and friends lose loved ones daily because of this tragedy, but scientists are beginning to unfold one of the causes for it: meat. The University of Texas did a study where they found that people who ate more meat, especially red meat, had a higher risk of developing kidney cancer. While red meat was the main target, these studies have shown that white meat such as chicken is another factor to causing cancer. On the other hand, living meat-free can protect a body against multiple types of cancer. Some of them include prostate cancer, colon cancer, and breast cancer. The foods that help prevent the growth of cancer is a diet consisting of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. While a meat eater can annex these fruits and vegetables into their diet, a recent study has shown that, “Countries where women eat very little meat and animal products have a much lower rate of breast cancer” (57 Health Benefits). Having a vegan diet prevents the chance of cancer more than a diet that has animal products in it. (Messina) (57 Health

The book “Harvest for Hope”, written by Jane Goodall, outlines and inspires the audience to eat mindfully and healthily. The author explains how a great portion of our nutrient intake is unknowingly mixed with toxins, and made in miserable conditions. Dr. Goodall explains this successfully by analyzing the typical practices of industrial agriculture, which then leads her on to examine the repercussions of these techniques, pressing the point that we are fatally detached from nature and it’s ethics. This novel informs the public not only how to leave a small environmental footprint, but also how one can do so positively. Jane Goodall associates many of humanity’s problems to the way the nutrition is composed.…

Just like sugars and sweats are acceptable in moderation why can’t meats be treated the same. I agree that the fast food industries are leading to the great increase in heart disease, high cholesterol and obesity because of the high amounts of fats and naturally dense foods. I agree very much that plants increase your energy level. I start every morning of with a spinach shake to give me a boost of energy, and exercise will also help with the decrease in heart disease but I don’t necessarily believe that cancer can be cured be eliminating meats.…

The Link Between Meat and Cancer : After reading this article I believe that it is very well written and contains a plethora of accurate information; however, it still does not change my beliefs in veganism. To begin, the explanation on how increased heme, the iron containing compound that gives meat its red color, increases the risk of cancer is very true. The greater the amount of red meat one eats, as opposed to fish meat or white meat, such as chicken, does in fact increase the heme in the gut which overall causes several problems in the digestive tract; although the chlorophyll in plants does override this abundance of this heme, the author did not specifically state how much of which vegetables work best against red meat in order to suppress the pro-cancer effects of heme.…

I don't really have a pony in the race of the vegetarians vs. the Paleo style meat eaters. Whatever keeps me cancer free will work for me. I did thoroughly read and enjoy the book "The China Study", which has a very convincing theory that cancer was correlated to increased animal protein intake. However, there was one big question left unanswered, which I proceeded to go out and answer for myself. Why have there been some tribes and cultures, namely the Native American "Inuit", Inuit being the correct word, and the word they call themselves, as well as Navajo and others, who were [supposedly] cancer free before contact with Europeans in spite of, the high intake of animal protein in their diet?…

Marilyn, I agree with you that “many diseases come from ingestion of infected meat.” I am not a vegetarian, instead, I love to eat red meat. Originally I came from nomad's lands where the red meat is the main food on the table, and tropical and subtropical fruits such as citruses, bananas, and mangoes are imported from China, Iran and other countries with a hot climate. From my previous classes I know that people may get Listeria from eating raw vegetables and fruits, Salmonellosis from eggs, milk and dairy products, eggs, fruits and vegetables, parasites from water. To prevent infectious diseases we need to educate people to wash hands with a soap, cook meat thoroughly, rinse, scrub or peel vegetables and fruits, boil water.…

He claimed that tractors kill animals such as mice, moles, rabbits and other rodents or have their habitats destroyed (par. 3). According to Piper vegans should consider the reducing their plant 's consumption and “eat more cow” that graze on pasture (par, 4). Animals that produce meat produce more calories and proteins per head than plants making them environmentally friendly contrary to what vegans claimed that they are harmful to the environment. Animals require pasture that is part of biodiversity and by growing pasture; human beings are taking care of the…
