Causes Of Minimum Driving Age Essay

Whenever you hear about fatal car accidents on the news, you secretly give your condolences. When you find out that it was caused by a teenager, you become angry with the fact that they did not have the correct driving knowledge to be out on the street. Teens cause many accidents on the road and they are also victims of accidents. It is this that leads me to believe that the minimum driving age must be raised. To begin with, teenagers have the tendency to be distracted. This could range from sleep deprivation to others in the car. In fact, as stated in Teenage Driving Laws, “Lack of sleep can also be a major factor in teenage crashes … found that teenagers who started school earlier in the morning had higher crash rates.” Having others in the car with you causes you to have to divide your attention between the road and the conversation you’re having with your friends about something that could be …show more content…
Some teens may have that as their only choice of transportation. Their parents may have to leave for work early in the morning and in turn that forces them to drive themselves to and from school. If you begin to drive earlier in your life, you may also get the chance to develop good driving skills which you can use in the future. This could include predicting what the people around you might do or where they may be headed. If you are able to drive without distractions, you will most definitely develop good driving skills that others may not have the ability to develop. In conclusion, the results of teen accidents go to show that there needs to be a raise in the minimum driving limit. A teenager has too many distractions to be able to develop skills on the road that can help their future. Hopefully a new law will be passed to help with our problem and it can help slow down the fatalities that have occurred in these collisions. Remember to get enough sleep and eliminate any distractions to keep yourself safe on the
